Mr. Ferraro is the Executive Director of the FIT Design and Technology Lab (DTech). He is responsible for Industry Partnerships and Collaborative Programs at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and serves as the Creative Director for its Innovation Center.

The DTech Lab is a bridge between Industry and Academia. Its mission is to engage faculty and students in solving industry problems using design and technology. Sharing the vision of The Innovations Center at FIT, to have a positive impact on the world, the collaborative, trans-disciplinary nature and close faculty supervision of DTech projects create high-impact learning experiences as students and faculty create innovative solutions across the creative industries. 
Creative technologist, researcher, artist, and educator, Mr. Ferraro’s career spans the worlds of computer animation, software development, virtual reality production, fine art, commercial entertainment, and higher education.

Prior to FIT and, after more than 20 years as a pioneer in the computer animation industry, Mr. Ferraro served 12 years as an associate professor in the Art Department at Lehman College/CUNY. In 2015, working with students, he won a NY Emmy for Graphics and Animation Supervision for a series of PSA’s entitled “Best of the Bronx”.

In the mid-’90s, Mr. Ferraro founded Possible Worlds an innovative real-time animation studio working for clients such as Warner Bros., Disney, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network. In the mid-80s Mr. Ferraro co-founded Blue Sky Studios and was the System Architect of the Academy Award-winning CGI Studio™ Renderer and animation system.
